Mormons love them some porn

profxm, June 6, 2010January 15, 2011

We had a good discussion earlier about Mormons and porn here, but I just caught this news article and thought everyone on MSP would enjoy the graphic:

Two interesting tidbits – highest porn consumption day: Sunday. State with highest subscription rate to porn websites per capita: Utah.

Did anyone else catch this line in the Salt Lake Tribune write up of conference, “as many as 80 percent of the single Mormon women between 18 and 30 are no longer active in the LDS Church”? I’d like to know where PeggyFletcher Stack got that number. Was anyone else…

Turns Out that Utahns Aren’t Just Googling Porn

February 27, 2009January 31, 2025

DAMU members have long been suspecting that residents in the state of Utah were among the top consumers of pornography. There remained considerable uncertainty, however, because the only available data were Google trends. Now, Benjamin Edelman from Harvard University has confirmed conjecture with credit card data of pornography consumers. After…

Do people leave the church for greener grass?

Interesting. I’ve heard “highest porn consumption day: Sunday. State with highest subscription rate to porn websites per capita: Utah” myself. I’d be interested in what the cause of this is. Does it really have something to do with something specific to mormonism (like some cultural issue) or if it is a fluke.

I learned to have a much healthier view of porn once I wasn’t married to porn addict whose addiction eventually led him to commit a felony.

When I got away from him and had a multi-year respite from the church, I learned that not all porn was evil. However, like anything else that kicks the endorphins into overdrive, it has be used with care. Viewing at work – that’s rather effin’ stupid and risking employment is a sign of addiction.

Also, there is a fairly significant downside to the treatment of those involved in the industry so be a responsible consumer.
