Reunion + Camp Quest Revenge of the Horde!

chanson, July 13, 2012July 13, 2012

Hi everyone! I’m blogging you from my big (Mormon) family reunion in Minneapolis!! We’ve got nearly 70 people in attendence of the nearly 100 descendants of my grandparents (+ S.O.s), so it’s going to be a wild weekend!

Between flights and Sunstone and this reunion, it turns out that the weekends are going to be the crazy-busiest part of the trip for me. I really appreciate all the help I’ve had with SiOB lately, but I don’t want to be out-of-the-loop for four weeks — especially considering how relevant these activities are to my work at MSP. So, for the next few weeks, I’d like to change “Sunday in Outer Blogness” to “Wednesday in Outer Blogness”, starting next Wednesday. I hope nobody minds. And, BTW, I’m really thrilled to see how lively this place has been while I’ve been on limited Internet access for the past few days! (My husband went on a trip-within-a-trip, and we didn’t bring his-and-hers laptops from Switzerland, but once the reunion is over, I’ll be back to having more time to visit MSP.)

Also note: it’s that time of year to do a little fundraising for Camp Quest! Last year Team Awesome Underdogs beat PZ Myers, and my son got the awesome toy FSM pictured above. I’ll be visiting Camp Quest Minnesota later this month to tell you about it. In the meantime, here’s the donation widget:

Now I need to get back to the reunion. If anything amusing happens, I’ll live-blog it on this thread. 😀

    @1 It shows up for me. I have to press a flash arrow button, but it’s there. Is anyone else having trouble seeing it?

    @2 Thanks!!

    We are having the most amazing time!!

    We’ve got 67 people in attendance (of the 97 descendants & S.O.s of my grandma). The adults are around half faithful Mormon, and almost half post-Mo/nevermo.

    Yesterday we took all the kids (and there are a lot of them!) to a big park in the morning. Then, in the afternoon, we took the big portrait in our reunion T-shirts, then games and a big spaghetti dinner, then a talent show — and all the kids really hammed it up! Then the naughty half had a beer-and-wine party at my (very Mormon) mom’s house — which my mom graciously hosted. She even stayed around to play games with us! And there’s more fun on the schedule for today!!

    Hmmmmm not seeing a flash button. My computer doesn’t say it needs to update flash player. I will have to have my husband check this afternoon.

    Hope you continue to have a ton of fun!

    Had a great time but I’m exhausted. Wish I could make it to Sunstone.

    @4 — I just heard from some of the other people that the widget sometimes doesn’t work on Firefox, and that if it’s not showing up for you, sometimes clearing your cache helps.

    @5 — It was great to see you at the reunion!! It’s fun communicating by Internet like this, but nothing beats getting together in person. Too bad we won’t see you at Sunstone as well.

    p.s. I’m exhausted too, but I’m recovering. 🙂
