Sunday in Outer Blogness: Picture it edition!!

chanson, March 3, 2013

This past week’s reading employed a lot of images — and not just those brought to mind by the breastfeeding controversy!

Even though Mormon Infographics didn’t update this past week, there were some cool infographics, including eye-opening information about how much the church leadership hierarchy changed during Joseph Smith’s time and about money (following up some great tips for the GOP). People also highlighted some serious art illustrating our current culture, some art altered by the CoJCoL-dS, illustrated scripture, ideas on what makes women unattractive, plus some (questionable but fun) joke images:

Other illustrated topics include the psychotic last throes of the “Mormon Moment”, Your Inner Fish, the new fan-fic book that I must read (Justin Bieber as a polygamist, h/t), and voting as an entitlement. Still others made interesting points without images, discussing the latest changes to the LDS scriptures, grace vs. works, a defense of Mormon apologetics, and my new favorite for next year’s “best post title”: Jesus H. Christ: Does anyone know his name?

In Mormon journeys, we have one sad ending, a (funny in retrospect?) semi-Mormon wedding, and the first part of an exit story. Plus there were some interesting displays of defiance from the faithful, from a mild-and-reasonable criticism of one-size-fits-all Mormonism to a perfectly reasonable question about what to do when something in the church isn’t working to a specific request about letting women pray in conference.

Well, it’s bedtime here in Switzerland — and time to get my little ones ready for another big day at school tomorrow. Happy reading, and have a great week!!
