Merry Christmas!!

chanson, December 24, 2013

Folks, I am really sorry to have missed doing SiOB the other day — especially considering that it was going to be the gay polygamy issue!!!

From the minute I finished work on Friday evening, I had a million things to do to get ready for Christmas! So, even though I was not really feeling well on Saturday and Sunday, I had to get out to the shops first thing in the morning to beat the crowds, then I had plenty to do at home for the rest of the day. I almost never get sick, so I figured I’d rather get my magical Christmas preparation done than take it easy.

Then, the night before last, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I had a terrible fever, and could hardly get out of bed all day on the 23rd. I didn’t even feel well enough to sit up and surf the Internet, if you can believe it!

You’re probably thinking I shouldn’t have been out shopping while I was coming down with something since I not only made myself worse, but I probably also infected other people. It’s a bit of a karma thing — I probably got it from someone else who was playing supermom, whereas it probably skipped right past all of those people who haven’t compromised their immune systems trying to make Christmas perfect until they drop. 😉

So I was going to say the score is Christmas: 1, supermom: 0, but… While I spent the day in bed on the 23rd, my husband and kids cleaned the apartment, so maybe it all comes out even. And I’m feeling much better today!

But, since it’s Christmas eve and all, I’ll just continue saving my links and do a double SiOB next Sunday.

Merry Christmas!!

Here in blogger land, people say the darndest things. And that’s just the comments. Recently I was lambasted for a post about a church meeting I had attended. The experience got under my skin, so I blogged about it. I was called, by several people, “shrill, unhealthy and bitter.”

Thirty years ago, long before the CES letter (heck, long before Facebook), I sat beside my brainy boyfriend* as he asked probing questions of two earnest nineteen-year-olds from Utah. He’d been reading the Book of Mormon but not feeling its spirit. How could there be elephants in America, he wanted…

    Thanks!!

It’s turning out nice so far. My husband has prepared his specialty dish for Christmas, and now he’s taking the kids on a walk (to get some of their energy out). The table is set with all of the festive dishes, so when they get back, the festivities will begin with the Christmas apéro!!
