And congratulations to everyone who participated!!! We had some amazingly stiff competition this year, so don’t feel bad if you didn’t win this time around. I had fun even though I didn’t win this time.

Also, I’d like each of you to take a moment to imagine yourself writing a post for Main Street Plaza — or even becoming a regular author here! It’s a fun way to share your thoughts and start a community discussion on some topic that interests you, and to get some additional publicity for your own blog. If you have a piece you’d like to post here, please email me: chanson dot exmormon at gmail dot com. Thanks!!

And congratulations to all the winners and nominees. Like chanson said there was some stiff competition. So many people are doing amazing things are creating great content.

    Congrats to you, Seth!!

@3 — yeah, me too! Actually, more than that. 😉

As I was preparing this, I caught myself thinking Dang, I shouldn’t have nominated that “Holy Ghost is a Pussy” piece, or at least I shouldn’t have posted over on post-mo that it was nominated, then maybe my What is Faith? piece would have won… But, really, Lloyd Dobler made an excellent point, so I can hardly complain.

  5. Paul Sunstone says:

Wow! Three wins and nominate in four categories! I’m very flattered. I’m grateful for everyone’s support and I hope to earn your readership this year as well at the SHAFT blog (though I haven’t been terribly prolific that past few months).

I had some very stiff and impressive competition, especially in the Religion and Orientation category–it was sooo close! I want to give a special shout out to Sulli’s post “I will not be someone else’s ‘sin’: http://weweregoingtobequeens.blogspot.com/2011/04/i-will-not-be-someone-elses-sin.html

I won by the narrowest margin over that post. It’s a favorite of mine, though, and I’m glad that it received a lot of attention and well-deserved recognition.

    Not gonna lie… I’m a sore loser… 😉

I will laugh at everyone though as I live in the great state of Louisiana and get to celebrate Mardi Gras right now!!! Ha-ha!

    Congrats!

I really wanted to win for the comic…

This is such a nice thing that you folks to do for us lowly bloggers. Thank you so much for nominating both Cognitive Dissenter and White and Delightsome! And thank you to all who voted for us! I (and we) are honored to place an awesome Brodie button on our sites.

Congrats to all those who were nominated! This is a wonderful community with some excellent writers and thinkers, fabulous support. Again, thank you, chanson!!

    Kiley
While fmh images are fun, I think yours is destined for a time capsule. Or better yet, up on the refrigerator door.
If only I could get my printer to work. (an unhappy cat sprayed it)

Kiley — I didn’t look at the results at all the whole second week (because I decided I wanted to be surprised), and I have to admit I was surprised and disappointed to see that you didn’t get one. (Since there were so many amazing nominees, I have to admit that there were a handful of posts I was secretly rooting for that didn’t win…). But given the quality of your work, you’re sure to get one next year!

MSP is a wordpress blog. What I do is save images to the media library and then edit the widgets.

  21. Jon Adams says:
    February 18, 2012 at 11:29 am

I was surprised and disappointed that one of Kiley’s posts didn’t win as well. That’s to say nothing bad about the posts that won over hers, but still–she does quality work that deserves to be recognized. There’s always next year, and you’ll have my vote!

Admittedly, the SHAFT posts have a slight advantage in that the site is a student group site and it’s easy to call upon members and ask them to vote. I asked much of the group to vote in the contest, and they came through in the last couple of days. Weird that a group of self-professed freethinkers would vote en masse and as a block. Ha ha. 😉

  22. chanson says:
    February 18, 2012 at 12:24 pm

Jon, you are so sweet!!! It’s not everyone who can be such a gracious winner. 🙂

Your work for MSP has been fantastic, and more than appreciated!!! I hope you’ll write for us more often!!

I want to be the impartial host, but I like to spread the fun around, and with three awards, I’ll grudgingly admit that I would have liked to see one go to Kiley. But c’est la vie — that’s what happens when you’re up against so many great posts!! And — as I’ve said — considering her work, I’m sure she’ll win next year. 😀

Thanks for putting these together! I’m thrilled that I won, and for the post that I won for. It’s probably one of my favorite things I’ve ever written, because of all the emotions it represents. I also wish every person who leaves the church could have a response from their family like I have had.

We certainly had some great winners this year, what with Norm and Gabi Thompson’s totally epic exit story. If they had not won, I would have suspected the voting was rigged. LOL!

I’m already looking out for nominations for next year.

Thank you for nominating me, and thank you to everyone who voted for my book. It means a lot to me that what I wrote resonated with people, and I feel very honored. Thank you again.
