self-delusion; do they not realize it?
I know I’ve done a bit of rabble-rousing with my last few posts, but this is another one that was spurred by the ethnography I recently read about Mormonism. Â In it, the author talks about how Mormon parents think about their kids in discussing the life trajectory of Mormons as…
Masks: Lesbians and Landing Gay Side Up
This post features a Mormon lesbian’s “struggle to be free” and a discussion of Orson Scott Card’s comments on homosexuality. Both accounts originated in comments left on a MetaFilter post. For the last couple of days, I have written about how pleased I was to discover that some of my…

Very cool — great job!!
Great article. It makes me wonder if they are feeling the pressure now that more and more political officials are openly declaring their support for marriage equality. Six senators in one weekend is no small thing.

It’s like the feminism question. Piecemeal steps (such as letting a woman pray at General Conference) can seem like progress from the inside, but from the outside it looks like the patriarchal force field is as strong as ever.
